Back when I used to watch tv, there used to be a show on VH1 called Best Week. Maybe it was called Best Week Ever, I can’t remember really. From what I can remember the show really wasn’t all that great but the name proves to be worth its value because the opposite seems to be true at the moment for me. This quite possibly has been the Worst Week Ever. Actually, it has been about 2 weeks.
As you know, I hurt my back 2 Sundays ago. Since then, I have reagravated the injury on more than one occasion, gotten horribly sick, and thought I was better only to realize I pushed myself too far too fast and got sick again. And top things off, the whole family is dealing with the sickness that I tried lovingly not to share with them. And then to make matters worse I got stung on my hand by a bee!!! Can you tell which one? lol
Some of you might be wondering why I am getting sick so much. Well, it is a really simple explanation…school. No, really. School is making me sick. 🙂 (Some of my readers are nodding their heads in agreement right now.) Let me explain. As most of you know we go to a school a little ways away from where we live to teach English twice a week. We usually end up staying the night because like I said, it’s a ways away and I am trying to save money and all of that. Well they really don’t have a place for us to stay on the school grounds so we stay in their nurse’s office. I know, I know, I know. Fool me once…
The good news is that we will no longer be going up to that particular school after this week. Our own project is getting far too busy right now. The children are great and all but I can definitely do without the sickness.
So it might have been the worst week ever for me health wise but for the project, it was a really good week. The Lord blessed us with a cement mixer, which we desperately needed since we had to relieve one of our builders of his duties. So we had massive holes to partially fill with cement (you know the same ones that I hurt my back on 🙂 ) and doing it by hand would have taken, oh let’s just say it would have taken way too long.
The good news keeps coming though! We have been in the market for a tractor as well. They are pretty pricey out here even. Most projects that are in the country will have need of a tractor. A friend called and told us of one for sale. It met all the qualifications. It was cheap and it runs great. Sold. The added bonus for us is that it is only a few years old!
Oh but wait, there’s more. I know you can barely contain yourself!
We just completed part 2 of the Work Permit process. First you have to clear the Dept of Education. Then you must tackle the Dept of Labor (which we just did), and lastly is Immigration. One more step to go, woooohoooo!!!! Now we should pray that we can get it done all in the next month or there could be a bit of a snafu. Lol Gotta love Thailand bureaucracy.
You can also pray for my back, which really isn’t my back but that’s the way I know how to describe the place that hurts. Kind of the tailbone. Kind of the hip. It’s just a weird location. People have asked me what it feels like and its really strange. At first it felt like it might be bruised ribs but the upper part of the injury ended up healing quickly. This lower portion feels like pain I’ve never felt before. When I go to a position that’s not good, there is this instantaneous searing hot sensation combined with what I can best describe as a tearing feeling. And there’s no doubt it when you do it. It’s a right now type of pain that has made me scream out on more than one occasion each day. X-Rays say all is right with the world but you and both know that’s not quite true. Lol (I’m laughing out loud because I’m in pain)
